This was demonstrated on our 1983 PT40.

I've seen several instances where people have converted from round headlights to the later style 4X6 quad rectangular headlights. I specifically wanted to keep the round headlights for the looks.

Note the headlight retaining rings are secured by two screws and one spring.

I used an electric cutoff wheel to cut out the notches in the buckets.

The notches really only function to line up the bulbs so they are installed the correct orientation.

I did not show the actual painting (black) of the headlight buckets. I brushed on a coating of black gloss rustoleum. The rusty metal primer and black paint were for corrosion protection and not necessarily for looks as you won't see the buckets when installed.

In addition to high/low beam projector headlight functions, the new units also have daytime running light and turn signal functions.

I did not show how I wired the additional accessories (daytime running lights/turn signals).

The daytime running lights were wired in with the parking light circuit. I tapped the parking light circuit and turn signals from the front lower rectangular parking light/turn signal. I could have wired the daytime running lights to an ignition circuit, but it was easier to wire into the parking light circuit.
