VN24 Arnsberg / Germany On 31.08.2020, a serious traffic accident occurred on the A46 freeway near Arnsberg at about 5:40 pm. The 44yearold driver of an semitrailer truck with container chassis was driving northbound and lost control of the vehicle shortly before the Uentrop tunnel. He first crashed into the righthand guardrails, causing the tractor unit and container trailer to tip over to the right and slide across the motorway to the first lane. As the fuel tank ruptured, hundreds of liters of diesel were dispersed across the road. The driver was injured in the accident and was taken to hospital for treatment. To recover the tractor unit and the chassis with a fully loaded 40'HC container, the towing company Wortmann requested an additional 160ton mobile crane (Liebherr LTM 11605.2) and a replacement tractor unit. The container was loaded with about 28 tons of round timber. The salvage and cleaning of the road lasted into the night hours.
