When I was young, I didn’t really like sesame flatbread or ShaoBing
I always thought they were too dry and I thought burgers and fries tasted better
I’m not sure when I started appreciating ShaoBing
It’s a flatbread that’s crispy and has different layers of texture
It has a nice sesame aroma to it
And when you sandwich a piece of youtiao (fried breadstick) with it
You just can’t stop eating it
Let’s make ShaoBing without the use of lard
It’s a tasty vegan sesame ShaoBing/flatbread

ShaoBing/Flatbread (makes 6)
dough:
150g all purpose flour
½ tsp salt
12g plantbased oil
75g water at 80100℃/176212°F
22g cold water

Roux/Shortening:
40g cake flour
25g plantbased oil
