Gustav Klimt (18621918) is one of the most fascinating artists of western art history. He is worldfamous for his golden and decorative paintings and his portraits of strong women. But who was this ‘golden boy’, and what is the story behind his talent? You perhaps know Klimt’s work, but have you actually seen it?

Uit nieuw onderzoek blijkt welke kunstenaars Klimt hebben beïnvloed, en welke hij bewonderde. Hij was medeoprichter van de kunstenaarsvereniging Wiener Secession. Daar werd in 1898 voor het eerst WestEuropese moderne kunst getoond. Vanaf dat moment betekende elke tentoonstelling die de vereniging organiseerde een nieuwe golf van inspiratie en creativiteit voor Klimt.
