A former Soviet republic, Uzbekistan hides in the heart of its desert expanses cities with a thousandyear history, real gems. Philippe Gougler begins his journey in the heart of the magnificent city of Samarkand. Once an important crossroads on the Silk Road, between China and the Mediterranean, the city is home to numerous historical monuments. Arriving in Tashkent, the country's capital, Philippe discovers, at the corner of a market, curious cradles for babies. After taking the metro and its impressive stations dating from the Soviet period, he tastes Kala Potcha, a stew of sheep's heads and feet, prepared by a mother and her daughter.
