Using a multimeter for low-voltage irrigation system troubleshooting

In Florida, inground, residential irrigation systems are problem prone. Landscapes are always in flux, endangering buried wires and sprinkler heads, and lightning is prevalent in the rainy season. One invaluable tool in the quest to keep your lowvoltage irrigation system in working order is the multimeter. Multimeters are easy to use and help take much of the guess work out of dead solenoids and bad zone ports. How? We asked irrigation expert Brad Gibson to cover the basics of using a multimeter to diagnose problems in a lowvoltage irrigation system.
