This is a Motormouth couple car review of the updated 2022 Acura RDX compact premium SUV. What’s new for 2022? The RDX has a more sculpted exterior design drawing inspiration from the new MDX. The diamond pentagon front grille features a thinner chrome surround with a new front fascia making it appear wider. The back end receives a reshaped rear fascia with rectangular dual exhaust finishers on the two lower trims and rounded on ASpec models. The integrated dynamics system has been updated and the available adaptive damper system delivers more response in sport mode and a more comfortable ride in comfort mode. The RDX has received extensive refinement updates with an enhanced active sound control system to reduce road noise and increase cabin quietness. All models come with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto and there is now an available wireless charger, interior accent lighting and ASpec models gain powerfolding side mirrors, Advance trim in the US. The RDX has a 2L turbocharged 4cylinder engine with a 10speed automatic transmission, 272 horsepower and 280 lbft of torque with standard AWD in Canada. In the US, FWD and AWD options are offered on three trims, the top two trims AWD only. Our Platinum Elite ASpec test model in Liquid Carbon Metallic, a new colour for 2022 ups its game with a gloss black grille surround, 20” shark grey wheels and a red leather and ultra suede interior. The RDX comes with an impressive amount of standard features including a 10.2” display, leatherette upholstery, heated power driver and passenger seats, a heated steering wheel, panoramic sunroof, a power tailgate, 19” wheels and a spare tire. In the US, the heated steering wheel is standard on the Advance trim. The RDX gets 11L/100km, 22 MPG city and 8.6L/100km, 28 MPG highway. Acura recommends premium fuel, but you can use regular. In Canada with standard AWD the RDX starts at $45,800 CAD, Tech $49,100 CAD, ASpec $52,600 CAD and Platinum Elite ASpec $58,000 CAD. The base FWD model starts at $40,100 USD/AWD $42,300 USD, Tech FWD $42,750 USD/AWD $44,950 USD, ASpec $45,750 USD, Advance $50,100 USD and ASpec Advance $52,100 USD.
