A sleazy newspaper publisher (Raymond Burr) murders his mistress (Hillary Brooke) and frames her husband for the crime. Will he get away with it or will an honest police detective (Robert Rockwell) untangle the web of lies and reveal the truth?

Raymond Burrbest known for playing the dogged defense attorney Perry Masonspent the first part of his career playing villains of the worst kind. He plays one such character in this film, and he's reportedly excellent, looming large throughout both metaphorically and literally.
