Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC)

It sounds strange, but a unique treatment that involves placing a tiny needle behind the ankle can help women control overactive bladder. The procedure, called Urgent PC, works by stimulating the tibial nerve over a series of sessions performed in a doctor's office.

Approved for use by the FDA, it is now being offered by specialists at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Dr. Janet Li, Section Head of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at BIDMC, explains the procedure.
