COORG, INDIA Today weā€™re in the mountains of Karnataka, in Coorg, India to make and eat Pandi Curry, an insanely delicious pork curry and one of the signature dishes of the Kodava people!

Thank you to my great friend Ebbin: @FoodNTravel
Shelly and Subbu for cooking: @thewishpilot

Coorg is a district in the Karnataka state of South India, located in the mountains between Mangalore and Mysore. Itā€™s a beautiful region, home to the Kodava people, and known for their cultural heritage, for growing coffee, and for their incredible food thatā€™s unlike anywhere else.

Today we had the privilege of being with Shelly and Subbu who will be cooking for us some of the local Kodava cuisine. The first dish is pandi curry, an incredible pork curry thatā€™s marinated and cooked with huge amounts of special roasted masala spices, curry leaves, sawtooth coriander, and the one of a kind; garcinia syrup, which is one of the signature flavors of the Kodava people. You eat pandi curry along with rice balls, and the combination is something truly magical. We also enjoyed black pepper chicken, jackfruit, and a few other side dishes. For dinner we had an equally magnificent local meal, with pork fry and unbelievable flavor profiles.

This was a day of Indian food that is lesser recognized, in fact the flavors were totally different from any other meal in India Iā€™ve ever had!
