Inflammation is a normal bodily process, when the body tries to heal itself from an injury. It's essential for bodily functions. Acute inflammation is a short term insult to the body. When the stimulus ceases and the body repairs itself, the inflammatory response goes away. When there is chronic inflammation that lasts months and years, the body continues to produce a response to protect itself over a long period of time. Over a prolonged period, the body can produce a variety of symptoms like fatigue, aches and pains, weight gain or weight loss, bowel symptoms. Causes of inflammation can be caused by a variety of things like infections, chemicals, environmental toxins, foods, stress, obesity. Chronic inflammation is linked to diabetes, cardiovascular disease, arthritis, cancer, skin conditions, Alzheimer's disease, etc. In this talk, we will concentrate on chronic inflammation, what causes it, how it impacts on the body and the myriad of ways we can help to reduce inflammation.
