Understanding Erectile Dysfunction vs. Erectile Worries: Causes, Symptoms, and Treatment

Erectile dysfunction is the recurrent inability to obtain or maintain erection sufficient for sexual activity, mostly associated with intercourse. It’s often coupled with distress from the person experiencing this challenge or from their partner.

Occasional erectile failure is not considered a dysfunction. According to sex therapist Dr. Barry McCarthy, between the ages of 3555, 90% of males have experienced at least one instance of erectile failure, which is normal and not a sign of erectile dysfunction.

Erectile worries, although common, are often seen as abnormal. Men frequently have doubts about their performance and meeting their partner's expectations in the bedroom, such as lasting longer or having a larger penis.

However, erectile worries can become problematic. Some men may avoid sexual intimacy or emotionally disconnect with their partner due to fear of losing an erection or finishing too quickly.

In this video, I cover:

02:15 Three treatment strategies to help reduce erectile worry

Remember, it's important to seek professional help if erectile worry persists and causes significant mental and sexual distress.
