Francesca Albanese is the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967. She was in Canada this week after submitting her latest report “Genocide as Colonial Erasure” to the United Nations General Assembly.

Due to technical issues and time constraints, we didn't have time to ask her everything we wanted.
One of those questions was asking about her reaction to a recent comment posted on X by the American Ambassador to the UN, Linda ThomasGreenfield:
"As UN Special Rapporteur Albanese visits New York, I want to reiterate the U.S. belief she is unfit for her role. The United Nations should not tolerate antisemitism from a UNaffiliated official hired to promote human rights."

Francesca Albanese emailed us this response:
“I have no interest in disputing false and defamatory allegations, all the more as they come from officials [who] should be made answerable for the support their state provides to Israel as it commits atrocity crimes. What I am interested in is: when will the U.S. stop providing aid and assistance to Israel? When will it start using its leverage to bring Israel’s unlawful occupation to an end as requested by the ICJ in July 2024? When will the U.S. impose a full arms embargo on Israel in accordance with the ICJ provisional measures order to stop plausible acts of genocide? When will the U.S. stop hindering the inalienable right of Palestinian people to selfdetermination? These are some of the questions that the U.S. should answer, instead of trying to divert the attention elsewhere."
