Despite all the rain the weather has cleared up for us in Palm Springs. It is bright, sunny and the palm trees sway. My intention is to stay the week but Mother Nature has other plans. I worry about a set of doors in my home that are not shut and secured. There is a major storm hitting up North where I live and I cannot stop thinking about my doors blowing open and rain destroying my house. I make a decision to cut short my vacation in Palm Springs and do a marathon drive back to the Bay Area. We hit terrible weather going up the Grapevine. High winds and hail. We pull over to a rest stop to regain our composure and rest. We have lunch in the van and catch up. Then we make the last leg of the journey home. The sun sets beautifully before us. When we arrive home we get our answer as to if the doors held shut. I decide to spend the night in the van and make a fancy dinner: Baked Chicken with cranberry sauce and green beans. It is delicious. I reflect upon my day and am thankful for my community.
