One of the most compelling aspects of the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse is how quickly police were able to stop traffic from getting on the bridge when a mayday was called. That quick action may have saved lives, including Gayle Fairman's. She said she feels incredibly grateful to be alive. Fairman got a call at 1:16 a.m. Tuesday morning to pick up a rider at the Amazon facilities in Sparrows Point. The destination — Brooklyn, right across the Key Bridge.
