Frederic and Mary of Denmark are embarking on their first international tour as kings of Denmark and will be visiting Norway to strengthen ties with their neighbors. Their visit coincides with their 20th wedding anniversary, which they will celebrate in Oslo. The couple will meet with King Harald and Queen Sonja and attend a gala dinner at the Royal Palace. The purpose of their trip is to make a name for themselves and increase their popularity outside of Denmark. After visiting Norway, Frederic and Mary will travel to the Faroe Islands and Greenland. However, they do not have plans to visit Spain, the Netherlands, or the UK in the near future. During their state visit to Norway, the couple will focus on environmental issues and will hike in the Østmarka National Park. They will be accompanied by the Norwegian crown prince couple and will be introduced to nature by young "nature talents" and guides.
