Tuning Penny's New GMRS Antenna with a NanoVNA

Follow
KAR Off Road

Penny's GMRS antenna was ok, but it being below the roofline of the vehicle made it choppy and inconsistent. Kenneth brought a new antenna on our most recent Moab adventure, and like most in this situation, replaced it in the hotel parking lot.

This time, he brought a new tool along, to help tune the new antenna. On Amazon, he picked up a NanoVNA. This device can be used an an antenna analyzer, providing more feedback results than a standard SWR meter. And it's not all that expensive!
