UPDATED VIDEO:    • TrowelPave Concrete Best Fix DIY Side...

TrowelPave Concrete is a part of the Plasticomposite Patching Repair System family of products available exclusively from TechniSoil. In this video, you will see the exact TrowelPave Concrete demonstration that hundreds of Municipality and Department of Transportation (DOT) departments have witnessed first hand. This Virtual Demo showcases the starttofinish process of repairing a nasty city sidewalk trip hazard.

This sidewalk panel had been lifted well over two inches by tree roots from a neighboring Redwood. The expansion joints served their purpose, allowing shift upward as it broke away from itself like a drawbridge. The development over years left more of a stair tread than a smooth surface. The sidewalk was no longer ADA compliant, instead, it had transformed into a dangerous liability for the governing city and an injury inducing hazard for pedestrians and bicyclists.

Our Virtual Demo begins with safely parking the TrowelPave demo van near our project and using cones or barricades to shield pedestrian traffic from the trip hazard. The repair area is lightly coated with algae and dust so it's important to clean with a wire brush and handheld blower.

Once clean, we will apply TrowelPave Concrete Top Coat Tack Coat to the existing sidewalk surface using a high density foam mini roller, focusing on the edges of the ramp area in order to reduce abrasion.

Next, we will pop the everhandy bucket grip onto our TrowelPave Concrete 25pound bucket kit and start mixing. For best results, we will use our proprietary Mixing Wand in a 1/2" drive DeWalt drill.

Once mixed thoroughly, we can pour the material into place and begin troweling. As the ramp begins to take shape, it is best to make a pass troweling from low to high across the entire surface and then back across it going from high to low. To reduce abrasion, use 45 degree cuts on the corners and roll all edges after straightening.

Using a hand tamp, we will lightly compact the TrowelPave Concrete surface. And finally, we run the trowel over one last time to smooth out any tamp marks. The surface should be smooth and tight without voids between the aggregate mix. Once complete, we will clean our tools with WD40® and a rag.

For high traffic areas, we will revisit the repair after it has cured completely (usually 2472 hours) and apply TrowelPave Concrete Top Coat Tack Coat to the entire surface and edges where it meets the existing surface. This will strengthen the patch, reduce abrasion, and it can be used any time as a life cycle maintenance coating.
