The world produces approximately 50 million tons of electronic waste each year. Half of them come from personal consumer electronics, such as smartphone and laptops. If buried in the landfill, the ewaste could contaminate water and earth with the hazard lasting hundreds of years. EgyptianFinnish entrepreneur Mo ElFatatry and his wife Nahed Bedir Eletribi founded ERTH, an ewaste recycling platform in Malaysia, to allow households and consumers easily dispose of ewaste through proper channels.
