Borderline personality disorder (BPD or Borderline) is a type of personality disorder that affects approximately 13% of the population. People with BPD struggle with selfimage, and their behavior and views of others can change rapidly as they battle waves of sadness, anger, or anxiety. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, BPD may be related to traumatic events, brain chemistry, and family history, but these factors are not always present in people with the disorder.

Hidden or silent BPD occurs when BPD symptoms are present, but internalized (Healthline, 2020). Because hidden BPD symptoms don't show outwardly, it can be difficult for someone without BPD to understand that the actions of a friend, partner, or family member are due to borderline personality disorder and not toxic personality or mental disorder. different as anxiety.
