The skill of searching for and retrieving objects is fundamental for teaching K9s to select objects and people, to search an area, inspect vehicles, and to follow a scent trail. The skill facilitates development of the olfactorysearch reaction in a K9. Conditioned stimuli: main Aport" command (fetch) and hand signal in the direction of the retrieval object (scent carrier); auxiliary commands "search", "smell”, "no" additional commands "sit". Unconditioned stimuli: retrieval object, treat, petting. The skill is developed based on the complex instinctive reaction of trying to seize moving objects a K9s play reaction as well as a food reaction. The main training methods are foodreward and playbased. Methodology and training techniques: The first lessons are conducted using objects that attract the K9's attention and elicit its grabbite reaction. First, the dog is taught to take the object from the trainer's hand. With his/her right hand the trainer shows the object to the K9 and "gets him excited" it by moving the object in front of the K9 while giving the "Aport" command. Usually the K9 becomes excited and grabs the object with his/her teeth. The trainer lets the dog hold the object for about 5 10 seconds and tugs it lightly. Then he gives the "Out" command, takes the object away, removes a treat from his bag and rewards the K9.

Upon my return to the U.S. I spent the next 10 years developing dogs, studying dna, neuron activity, and connectivity of the central nervous system. MWD K9 was founded in 2012 in order to develop the best possible training methods for K9 and humans. ** ATTENTION** much of the training content is the wonderful and brilliant work of Mister Maxim Basyro. In 1996, from the youthful enthusiasm of dog training, followed by the practical experience of instructorcynologist training of service dogs and the personnel learning of cynological units from the frontier troops, an impulse was created within Basyro to create the first cynological center – “Ronald” in St. Petersburg. It was within the Ronald Cynological Center that Basyro began working on creating programs and techniques that later became the theoretical framework for all the educational and training process within the larger organizational framework of the Federation of Military Canines. Now, 25 years after the first steps in the path of professional cynology – this framework has been expanded many times. In 2016, in St. Petersburg, the fifth center of the Federation was opened with a full range of specialized cynological services, and has already begun expanding significantly within the borders of the Leningrad region. The practical cynological services of the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation is organically combined, as well as Maxim Basyro’s own methods for training both dogs and their handlers.
