For the Hayes Family, September is all about traditional bow hunting elk! We recently got back from our 2021 elk camp and I was fortunate enough to connect with a good one, spot and stalk with the recurve bow hunting public land (not really a recurve but it looks better for the search engines!) This time last year I was preparing for Alone Season 8 and what would turn out to be two and a half months alone in the Canadian wilderness. We were all looking forward to this years elk hunt so we packed enough supplies for a month. But as it turns out I was able to arrow a big cow elk on only the second day. We're all thankful to have a freezer full of free range organic wild game meat but a little bummed that the archery elk hunting season ended so soon for us. But not to fret, there's plenty more hunting and other outdoor adventures to come yet this fall and winter so stay tuned!
