Replacing the stock fuel tank skid plate on the 4Runner with aftermarket is around the same cost as going OEM, and aftermarket is tougher and made out of Aluminum so it will never rust. This video shows how to replace the OEM fuel tank skid with an aftermarket skid plate. I used RCI Off Road, but many other good companies make similar products.
