The history of Perugia starts around the 3rd century BC. We can see and touch history from this era. Perugia is a fortified town originally with seven gates. We can see six of them today with their original stones. Unfortunately, the walls and gates were almost destroyed in the Roman Civil war. Most of the bases of the gates remained and were rebuilt with Roman or medieval styles.
