When he died in 2016, aged 93, Peres was a beloved older statesman and something of a worldwide celebrity.


But there was far more to Peres than the adored status of his later years.

He wasn’t always the popular man of the people he wasn’t always popular and as he proved, the path to peace doesn’t always run smoothly (or even at all), but that doesn’t mean he ever stopped trying.
