Reading 1: Acts 19:18
Now it happened that, while Apollo was at Corinth, Paul, after he had journeyed through the upper regions, arrived at Ephesus. And he met with certain disciples. And he said to them, “After believing, have you received the Holy Spirit?” But they said to him, “We have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.” Yet truly, he said, “Then with what have you been baptized?” And they said, “With the baptism of John.” Then Paul said: “John baptized the people with the baptism of repentance, saying that they should believe in the One who is to come after him, that is, in Jesus.” Upon hearing these things, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had imposed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came over them. And they were speaking in tongues and prophesying. Now the men were about twelve in all.

Then, upon entering the synagogue, he was speaking faithfully for three months, disputing and persuading them about the kingdom of God.

Responsorial Psalm: PS 68:23ab, 45acd, 67ab
R. (33a) Sing to God, O kingdoms of the earth.

Let God arise, and let his enemies be scattered: and let those who hate him flee from before his presence. As smoke vanishes, so let them disappear: as wax melts before the fire.
R. Sing to God, O kingdoms of the earth.

And let the righteous feast, and rejoice before God: and be filled with gladness. Sing to God, sing a psalm to his name, prepare a way for him who ascends in the west: the Lord is his name.
R. Sing to God, O kingdoms of the earth.

Who is the father of orphans, and the defender of widows. God in his holy dwelling: God who causes people of one kind to live together in a home: Who brings out those who were bound with strength.
R. Sing to God, O kingdoms of the earth.

Alleluia: Col 3:1
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
If then you were raised with Christ, seek what is above,
where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.

Gospel: John 16:2933
His disciples said to him: “Behold, now you are speaking plainly and not speaking in riddles. Now we know that you know all things, and that you have no need for anyone to question you. By this, we believe that you came forth from God.” Jesus answered them: “Do you believe now? Behold, the hour is coming, and it has now arrived, when you will be scattered, each one on his own, and you will leave me behind, alone. And yet I am not alone, for the Father is with me. These things I have spoken to you, so that you may have peace in me. In the world, you will face trials. But take courage: I have conquered the world.”
