The current ball premiered during the 20082009 Ball Drop.
The ball is 12 feet in diameter (double the size of the previous ball) and weighs 11,875 Pounds. The Ball is covered in over two thousand Waterford Crystals, making it the largest crystal ball in the world.

This video includes the following: Paul Anka signing his hit song "My Way", a rendition of John Lennon's "Imagine," the 110th Mayor of New York, Eric Adams, Ali Krieger, Kelley O'Hara, Midge Purce, and others pressing the crystal button that “signals” the ball drop, The Ball Drop, Frank Sinatra's New York, New York, and the second raising of the ball featuring a new pattern designed by Fontainebleau.
