This is a tutorial for an escape room puzzle using illuminated arcade buttons (the same ones I used at • Understanding ARCADE BUTTONS and • DIY Arduino Quiz Buzzer System ).
The objective is simple to make all the buttons light up at the same time which releases a maglock and opens the door. However, when there are more buttons than there are players, and those buttons are positioned far apart (and/or in hard to reach places), it requires a bit more thought...
...the key is that each button stays lit for a certain duration (customisable in code) after they are released. Players must plan the correct order in which to press the buttons so that they can all be activated within the same time.
