The I Can Work! Curriculum is a 5module course designed to integrate communication skills with handson prevocational training in the areas of job readiness, clerical, retail, food service, and the grocery industry. This differentiated, handson curriculum utilizes visual supports and data collection systems all designed to build a strong, consistent, prevocational foundation for all individuals. This indepth webinar is designed to introduce and break down stepbystep Module 1: Job Readiness. The job readiness module presents the first step in a multilayered process for introducing and educating young adults in the area of vocation. Module 1 focuses on vocationrelated vocabulary, the application process, expectations and communication in the workplace as well as a range of soft skill building lessons and activities.


Angela Mahoney, M.Ed., author of the I Can Work! curriculum, currently works as Special Educator for the Danbury Public School in Danbury, Connecticut. She has worked with students of all ages in a variety of settings for the past eighteen years. Her career includes a private school where she worked with over seventyfive middle school and high schoolaged students on a weekly basis, running an inclusionbased elementary program for students on the autism spectrum, as well as coteaching core academic classes as part of a team comprised of fellow middle school educators.
