The water nomads: when man and the sea become one

In Thailand, the animist Moken tribe has lived on the Andaman Sea for nearly 4,000 years. Originally from China, these sea nomads live day and night on a boat called kabang and subsist on the fruits of fishing. Outstanding divers and fishermen, the Moken appreciate and defend their maritime way of life and are determined to perpetuate it as long as possible.
In Cambodia, the Chams are a Muslim ethnic group living aboard canoes on the mythical Mekong River. Constantly in search of fish, their only source of income, they navigate day and night on sometimes precarious boats in order to flush out this precious and increasingly rare resource. The existence of the Chams is difficult; many dream of a life on earth and a house that no longer rocks, far from the daily dangers of the river.
