This is a compilation of footage from Makaha Angels Productions (namely me during the Kaʻala fires), Outside Hawaii, Malama Learning Center, and Kaala Farms. We Makaha Angels Productions my company edited 3 videos to come down to this 5 minute piece on the fires along the Waiʻanae Coastline. This is for the community to be aware of fires during the summer months and how dangerous fires can be to our beloved Waiʻanae Coastline.

We have the same dry weather issue and long grasses as does Lahaina, Maui.Our community has been speaking to the issue of fire mitigation along this coastline for years. Nothing really done. Since Lahaina Fires last year in 2023 destroyed that town. Finally, the powers that be are listening to our community.

One year all 3 of our valleyʻs were on fire due to arson. It was also windy so the fires kept jumping from valley to valley. Nanakuli, Kaala, Waianae Range, then over to Makaha and then to Keaus. This is a big issue for us on the leeward side of the island. The dry side during the summer months.

Today all community stakeholders will come together to strategize a plan for fire remediation. Starts with managing those grasses and starts with a long term strategy.

I am happy to welcome our newest Menehune in the Menehune Film Academy (a Non Profit org) to our school. Koda Daily broke down all 3 videos and put it on a editing timeline for me to come in there and chop it up and make it memorable! Mahalo Koda and it was amazing working with you. Canʻt wait to do more fun filmmaking. =)

Side note: Uncle Butch called me to tell me to bring my camera up to Kaʻala Farms there in Waiʻanae because there was a fire and the whole place was going to burn down. The fire started at Lualualei Valley because once again the Military, namely the navy was doing a "controled burn" that burned out of control and into Waiʻanae Valley. This same thing happened with the Army at Makua Valley a few years back. Both fires spread and burned thousands of acres along our coastline threatening our very lives not too mention killing all our birds and other precious living creatures.
