The trucker's hitch seems complicated, but is really just a combination of a slipknot, 2 redirects forming 3:1 mechanical advantage, and 2 "slip half hitches", which I also call "rabbit ears" to hold everything taut. It is commonly used for securing loads on trailers/trucks, or for securing tent cords to their stakes.
