So John Carpenters The Thing is arguably one of the best scifi films ever made. It's a movie to me that has stood the test of time due to it's story, special effects and also it's titular character The Thing. Capable of immitating any life form, it's a creature that can be your best friend one minute and the most terrifying thing you've ever seen the next.

What I love about the movie is that almost every aspect of it has a mysterious element to it and the idea of not having all the answers is something that's thematically throughout the entire film. Whether it's it's ambigious ending or the creature itself, we never really feel like we have all the information and I think that this is something that's helped to keep the movie as a talking point all these years later.

However that's where I come in.

I've gone through numerous interviews, books, comics and everything that I could find to try and piece together all the information that I can on the creature to talk about it as much as possible. Throughout this video I'm gonna be going through it all to try and explain The Thing and why it's one of the most dangerous entities in the galaxy.
