The story of how the Hobbiton Movie Set was built is fascinating, so come visit Hobbiton with me because yes, Hobbiton is a real place and we are going to go on an adventure. The Lord of the Rings trilogy is defined by the landscapes of Middleearth. Many sets were built for real but Hobbiton Movie Set is the only one still standing. This video essay tells the story of how Hobbiton came to be, using Lord of the Rings behind the scenes footage from the LOTR appendices from the DVD, as well as my own extensive research and interviews with the amazing team at the Hobbiton Movie Set. This is the story of the Scouting of the Shire.
