Being a fanfavorite since its debut in the YuGiOh TCG set, Legend of Blue Eyes White Dragon, and being the ace monster of Joey Wheeler in the YuGiOh animated series, RedEyes Black Dragon was rewarded with its own archetype. Even though certain cards involved RedEyes Black Dragon before this set's release, like RedEyes Black Chick, Inferno Fire Blast, RedEyes Wyvern, and RedEyes Darkness Metal Dragon, none of those cards were helpful to the 2400 Atk dark dragon. The only cards that consistently saw play were RedEyes Darkness Metal Dragon and RedEyes Wyvern due to RedEyes Darkness Metal Dragon's ability to special summon any Dragon from the hand or graveyard and RedEyes Wyvern's ability to banish itself to Special Summon RedEyes Darkness Metal if it was in the graveyard. However, the first wave of support it received was supposed to rectify RedEyes's problems….and didn't quite do that. So today, we'll look at the RedEyes Archetype and why it failed in the YuGiOh TCG.
