Imagine that you are an Arctic Fox that spends every day in temperatures below freezing and you are constantly being pushed and pulled by strong wind gusts. What would you do to stay warm?

Fortunately, these little foxes have some helpful adaptations for life in the frigid Arctic.

By having dense fur, a thick coating of fat, and a compact body, the arctic fox can maintain heat in temperatures as low as 58 in the arctic tundra. The fox's dense fur coat maintains a body temperature of 104°F.

Their long, fluffy tails serve as a blanket, keeping foxes warm when they wrap them around their bodies to sleep. Plus, they have fur on the bottoms of their feet. This allows them to trap heat and prevents them from slipping on the ice.

Arctic foxes have short muzzles and ears.Their white fur makes it more difficult for predators like wolves, polar bears, and golden eagles to detect them among the ice and snow.

Adult Arctic Foxes are approximately 2 feet long, less than 1 foot tall, and weigh up to 20 pounds.
