Perhaps no man was more beloved at West Point during the years leading up to the Civil War than Fitzhugh Lee (18351905). A nephew of Robert E. Lee, Fitzhugh graduated from the Academy in 1856. He was one of funniest, wildest, and craziest cadets who piled up demerits with the best of them. Here are three recollections of his West Point years from those who knew him.
