In 1996, University of Michigan ice hockey player Mike Legg pulled off what was described as a “lacrossestyle” goal in an NCAA playoff game. But, for as quickly as the neverbeforeseen motion burst onto the scene, it disappeared until 2019 when Carolina Hurricanes right wing Andrei Svechnikov executed the move in a game. Players began rushing to develop the technique, which has now become a legitimate scoring threat used by pros and youth players alike.
