Blending CVC or CCVC words is one of my favorite strategies to help students develop their confidence in reading. This is done through teaching word family words. This strategy is effective because children pick up on the repetition. They also understand the basic sounds, in turn, becoming more confident in their decoding skills.

In this lesson children will develop the skill of blending the letter sounds of the "ip" family to say each word.
