THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING BAND

In this series, we shrink bands to a tiny size to play a live session in the tiniest house next to Paradiso. ‘Cause what do you do when it’s impossible for music creatives to live and thrive in Amsterdam, when all space is taken up by greed and the cost of living goes up? You use every single little tiny space you’ve got, and shrink your dear musicians. Until the love for music in this city grows bigger than the greed that goes around, we need to find different ways to create space for musicians.

Gallowstreet
Hailing from the Galgenstraat (literally “Gallows Street”), the historic docks of Amsterdam’s original northern quarter, Gallowstreet is famous for their high energy live shows, whether it’s headlining their own soldout yearly brass festival Honk at Paradiso, collaborating with string ensemble Pynarello at the worldfamous Concertgebouw, or playing at top festivals around Europe. The music from their first two albums Battleplan and Hot Lava Sex Machine have been covered by amateur brass bands around the world and are featured in the Dutch film De Libi.

“PHOENIX”
An emotionally charged melancholic brass anthem featuring pulsating horns, a d ‘n b reminiscent drum groove and heavy riffs. Phoenix is the first effort of Gallowstreet 5th studio album due to be released in Spring 2024. Musically, it ties together all the songwriting and musicianship skills that the band has developed throughout the years into a song that wants to spread its wings.
