Friends, in this video I tell you all the reasons why I returned to mountain running.

Friends, today I want to tell you why I went back to mountain running. Hold on to your seat because I assure you that after watching this video you will be wanting to run out the door.
As in the other video I'm just going to tell you about my own experience and then you can decide what to do.
I'll start with saying that many people who train with weights or even bodyweight avoid cardio. There is a concept that with cardio you will lose muscle and it is understandable that people get scared when they see lower numbers on the scale when doing some cardio.
Actually you will most likely only lose water or you might also burn fat, but also keep in mind that there are different types of cardio.
And I can understand that you might get bored doing an hour on a cardio machine or doing an hour of a high intensity routine or having to run on the flat for an hour.

Look, let me tell you, when I was living in New York I started working out at the gym.
After a couple of years I met a friend who ran marathons.
I started to prepare for the marathon as well and that meant running two or three times a week for 10 km and then every Sunday I would run 10 km as well, but from Sunday to Sunday I would increase by 2 km until I reached 40 km.
My cardiovascular capacity was spectacular, but I felt at some point that it was too much cardio for my taste.
After a while, when I started training on the bars too I decided to take an approach that focuses a bit on everything.
In the week, once or twice I would go to the gym, once or twice I would go to the bars, once I would go swimming and then once or twice I would go running or skating on the hills.
And with this approach I felt amazing and I also felt that I had quite a bit of versatility and ability in my body.

And I could say that the decision to go to live in Colombia was when I saw the picture of the famous hill of the three crosses. It had some bars and weights at the top and I imagined myself running up that hill and then doing the exercise at the top on my own.

That's what I did and at that time my physique was superdry and I also had incredible stamina.

And when I couldn't go to the hill and back to the training park, for me it was 6 km up the mountain.

Now friends, when I came to live in Spain for some reason I lost this habit of running.

Maybe when you find yourself in a new environment you don't always know how things work or where to go and some habits can get lost or forgotten.

So for training I had it better than ever. I had loads of weights, bars and all possible equipment everything at my disposal. And so I thought I was going to make more progress, but there's only one problem all this stuff was literally on my terrace, I didn't have to go 10 metres to train.

And then I thought I was going to benefit from training and there were times when I literally trained every day.

But I started to notice something strange my physique has become a lot less dry.
In fact, there were periods of time when my belly fat percentage was at 11 12%.

I mean, it's not that it's bad to have this percentage, but also what I started to notice is that when I wanted to play football or do any other kind of activity like that I felt heavier than ever.

In fact, I was literally heavy because at one point I was at 90 kilos.

So, to solve this problem, I decided to do 20 km of cardio on the bike per day. The route I was doing was on the flat and I can also say that my fat percentage was not going down. That was much better than doing nothing, obviously, but I needed something that gave much faster and more noticeable results.

Then I remembered the times in Medellin and decided to replicate that strategy.
And here the key is not the distance itself but the intensity. For example, the climb takes me only 20 minutes, but during these 20 minutes my heart stays at 178 beats per minute.

It is a very good mental challenge also because you literally suffer every second and the important thing is not to stop.

Results were almost immediate and you can say that only water has come out, but I am also measuring the body fat percentage almost every day to see how that number changes.

Obviously, apart from this, you have to take care of your diet and lifestyle as well and I was doing that; however, I also tell you that only by taking care of your diet you could achieve the same result but it would be much, much, much slower. In fact, I with diet alone couldn't get rid of those last few percentages of fat, i.e. instead of 1011 in the abdominal area I was at least 8.
