There are about 60 rock cliffs in Meteora
The cliffs were created 60 million years ago
There were formed from the deposition of alluvium
In 1356 the first monastery established
In the 15th century there were 24 dependent monasteries
The rock cliffs rise to a height of 400 meters.
Today there are 4 monasteries for men and 2 for women.
The hanging monasteries are a UNESCO World Heritage site.
