The French Bulldog is a small breed of domestic dog. "Frenchies" were the result in the 1800s of a cross between bulldog ancestors imported from England and local ratters in Paris (France).
In 2014, they were the fourth most popular registered dog in the United Kingdom and in the U.S. the ninth most popular AKC registered dog breed.
Character: Lively, playful, sporty and alert. Particularly affectionate with its master and with children.
Particularity: The little bulldog became popular worldwide after an example called “Snob” was taken to Vienna by Prince Coburg in 1888, thus introducing the breed at court. An other notable character of the Viennese 'beautiful set' was the owner of the hotel Erzherzog Karl, who also imported a Toy Bulldog.
