Here is a little insight into a knot I was taught when the FG was first becoming popular, its so good I've almost forgotten how to tie and FG after using this exclusively for a number of years now. It's basically a hand tied PR bobbin knot which doesn't require any tools and once you've worked it out you probably won't bother with the FG ever again.

I've used this knot for years now without any issues, it's super easy to tie, neat, small, as strong as an FG and easier to tie in all situations. Just be sure to tension it in the correct sequence and it'll last until you have no leader left. I've tied this a few times in this clip to show different breaking strains and explained in depth how to get your head around it, works well from Pe 0.6 to Pe 10 regardless of leader size and breaking strain go and give it a crack!
