Boarding a long flight is a lot of things, but an excuse to look sloppy is not one of them. Resist the urge to throw on sweat pants at the last minute with these easy tips on how to get dressed cute and comfortable for your travels.

A good idea is to start with a black outfit base, so that you can avoid food or drink spill disasters. When getting dressed, think about choosing pieces that don’t wrinkle so that you can look polished when you arrive. Take a big sweater to throw over, which is practical and comfortable for cold temperatures on the plane. Sunglasses are essential to bring with you for when you want to hide postflight. Not to mention, they make for the best donotdisturb sign for when sleeping onboard. A really big tote is important to fit all your carryon items while traveling. Flats or boots will be your best friends, because you’ll be comfortable yet still look cool. Another thing Rachel loves while traveling is a big hat.
