This video is a follow up to the first video that I made showing how I refill a 1 lb propane bottle. After posting that video, some discussion was initiated as to whether the method that I used was the most efficient. Although I was aware that you could manipulate the valve to allow for more space for propane to transfer I do not use that method because it is one more step and sometimes it can be hard to reach the valve when you are filling. I was also concerned with the possibility of over filling and expansion that can occur with temperature change. I was aware of the valve could be manipulated during refilling however, I was not aware that is the sole purpose of it. I erroneously called it a relief valve. After weighing a new and empty bottle I found that there is approximately 1 lb of propane in a new bottle. Using the one step easy method that I showed in my first video resulted in the bottle only being filled 3/4 full. I thought it was fair that I show both methods so that the viewer can decide which method they want to use, the easy or the best.
