Dogs are man's best friend, but maybe not the dogs that live in the ghost town of Pripyat, Ukraine, the place where decades ago was the scene of the biggest nuclear accident in human history when reactor 4 of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in the then Soviet Union. After the rbmk reactor exploded the surrounding inhabitants were evacuated, leaving behind belongings and their pets, and never returned. A dog at that time had to learn to survive on its own overnight inside what became known as the exclusion zone, an evacuation area that is still not inhabited by humans. Today a dog in that place has to deal with the dangers of ionizing radiation and the stigma.
