While at the Churnet Valley Railway Steam Gala, an opportunity to record this epic climb on board rather than the usual lineside shots.
The front of the train was out of the question as it was as expected quite packed..... Having dined on board between Froghall & Cheddleton I was at the rear just ahead of the kitchen car and able to make good use of both windows with no 'competition'!! An opportunity not to be missed with 4079 on the front rather than the home based regular S160's seen in the previous video attacking this average 1 in 39/1 in 45 with plenty of curves to contend with.
So, make a cuppa (or whatever), sit back and enjoy the display in real time!!

NOTE: Filming was done on Sunday & this was the 2nd of four scheduled runs beyond Leek Brook Junction & Ipstones (or Cauldon Low). From Cheddleton the scheduled running time is 35 minutes.
Well done CVR, a very welcome return to a full gala weekend and a great effort by all concerned and some fair weather too.
