The Celts lacked a sense of national identity and lived a seminomadic lifestyle, leaving behind simple homesteads. Despite being illiterate in their own languages, the Celts survived into modern times, with their languages persisting in Scotland, Ireland, Wales, and Brittany. Often portrayed as barbarians, the Celts were organized, sophisticated, and technologically advanced, known for their courage in war, flamboyant style, and lack of interest in building empires.
