Levain is definitely still in the top 3, but it's no longer the best cookie in New York. Is it Janie's LifeChanging Cookies? Spot Dessert Bar? Jacques Torres? Chip City? What qualifies us to decide what the best cookie is in New York? We love cookies and we've eaten at all the top bakeries and cookie shops in the City. That's pretty much it.

Levain's cookies are still fantastic, and at this point they're so iconic that you have to stop at Levain's if you're in New York. Beside the oatmeal raisin, we highly recommend the dark chocolate peanut butter chip.

But the pie crust cookie at Janie's and the halfbaked chocolate chip cookie, also at Janie's, are two of the best cookies we have ever eaten. And that oreo chocolate chip cookie at Spot dessert bar was phenomenal. So go to Levain, because you have to. But go to Spot and Janie's because you'll regret it if you don't.
